Scottie Scheffler is having an amazing 2024 season, winning seven times in 18 events and even grabbing Olympic gold.
Xander Schauffele is close behind with two wins in 20 starts, three second-place finishes, and thirteen top-10s. If he stays in second place, he could earn around $30 million this season.
Though Schauffele has won more Majors this year, with victories at the PGA Championship and The Open compared to Scheffler’s single win at The Masters .
Comparing Their Seasons
Schauffele believes that the number of total wins is the best way to compare their seasons. Before the BMW Championship at Castle Pines, he said, “I’ve won two times and he’s won seven. We both have a lot of top 10s.” He respects Scheffler a lot and enjoyed getting to know him better at the Olympics.
Fans might think it’s interesting how friendly rivals can push each other to new heights.
Schauffele also praised Scheffler’s incredible performance this year. “He’s been playing unbelievable golf,” he said. “I feel like we’re all just chasing him.”
Despite making every cut since the 2022 Masters and only finishing outside the top-25 once this season, Schauffele will probably miss out on being named PGA Tour Player of the Year.
To surpass Scheffler for that honor, Schauffele thinks it would take an extraordinary effort—like Vijay Singh’s nine-win season in 2004 when he beat Tiger Woods for the award.

When asked if he imagined winning two Majors but not Player of the Year, Schauffele replied: “Yeah. I mean… didn’t Vijay have to win nine times to take Tiger?” He acknowledged that everyone knows what it takes now to be on top: something extraordinary like what Vijay did.
