A new indoor golf course in China is creating a buzz on social media.
This month, Golfzon, a South Korean company, launched its first urban course in Tianjin. One video of the course has gone viral with millions of views.
The City Golf facility covers 16,000 square meters and boasts 18 holes, each with its own screen and putting green.
Unlike other simulators where you hit into a screen, at City Golf, the screen opens up for real putting and chipping on greens. Some short approach shots and bunker shots also take place on these greens.
“The venue is designed with a spacious 18-meter-high ceiling that allows natural light,” said a Golfzon staffer. This makes for a unique golfing experience right in the city center.
City Golf’s Global Ambitions:
Golfzon aims to bring similar courses to major cities worldwide. “City Golf is the world’s first urban golf course that incorporates our simulator technology,” said CEO Park Kang-soo. They plan to start this global expansion from China.
Fans might think this is an exciting development for urban sports lovers.
The venue recently hosted its first tournament, the Golfzon City Golf China Open, on September 13. The event was broadcasted widely and featured a prize pool exceeding $700,000.
A video showing someone playing at this innovative course has been shared extensively online. Stina Sternberg even called it “the coolest thing in the world” on X (formerly Twitter). She added, “One screen and one green per hole, all indoors. Mind blown.”
Others have described City Golf as “amazing” and “the future of golf.”
