A teenage golf prodigy’s dream turned into a brutal reality check, and now we’re getting an inside look at the whole journey.
Josh Berry became the second-youngest player ever to earn a spot on the DP World Tour – only Rory McIlroy did it younger. But what happened next wasn’t exactly the fairy tale he’d imagined.
“You dream of playing on Tour your whole life, but nothing really prepares you for the reality of it,” Berry says in ‘Making The Cut’, a new four-part documentary series following his rookie season.
At just 18, Berry thought he’d made it. He’d conquered Q School as an amateur, earning his tour card for the 2024 season. That’s when things got really interesting.
One week he was teeing off against the world’s best players. The next, he was fighting just to keep his spot on tour.
“One week, you’re playing against the best in the world, and the next, you’re wondering if you’ll even have a place to play next season,” Berry reveals. “This series shows what life on Tour is really like.”
The documentary captures everything – the constant travel, the intense pressure, and the razor-thin line between making it and going home. It’s a side of professional golf most fans never get to see.
After a tough rookie season, Berry faced the ultimate pressure test: heading back to Q-School to fight for his tour survival. Spoiler alert: he pulled off an amazing finish to keep his card.
TravisMathew, the company behind the series, is releasing one episode every Friday starting March 7 on their Europe YouTube channel.
“Josh’s first year on the DP World Tour provides an authentic look into the true realities of Tour life for young players,” says Ben Howlett, TravisMathew’s head of marketing. “This docuseries captures what professional golf is truly about – resilience, pressure, and the fight to succeed. It’s a remarkable story, with an extraordinary ending!”
