Jeffrey Guan had a rough week.
Last Friday, during the NSW Open regional qualifier, he got hit by a stray golf ball from another player’s tee shot.
The 20-year-old was quickly taken to Canberra hospital after being struck below his eye.
In a statement, the PGA of Australia said: “NSW professional Jeffrey Guan has been transported to hospital in Canberra after being struck by a golf ball during a pro-am event at Club Catalina yesterday. Jeff was hit just below his eye and received treatment on course before being transferred to Moruya Hospital for scans. He was then airlifted to Canberra to be assessed by an eye specialist.”
They also mentioned that Guan is part of the Golf NSW High Performance & Golf Australia Rookie Squad. The PGA thanked everyone who helped Jeff and asked for privacy for his family while promising updates on his condition.

Paul Davis, Guan’s coach, shared with Australian Golf Digest: “Obviously there are fears he may lose some vision but we won’t know the full extent until he goes to Sydney for further assessment. It’s truly awful … this was actually the first pro-am Jeff has ever played in. It’s just the worst possible news after such an amazing week in California.”
Recent Performance:
Guan recently played at the Procore Championship where he started strong with a first-round score of 69 but followed it up with a 75, missing the cut. Back home in Australia, he was competing in an event that could have qualified him for the 2024 NSW Open Championship alongside stars like Cameron Smith.
Fans might be worried about how this will affect his future games.
