Tour Pro Sets 27-Year Major Record at US Senior Open

The key to scoring low in golf is keeping the ball on the fairway.

Hitting wayward shots means fewer birdies and more trouble. Hiroyuki Fujita is proving this at the 2024 US Senior Open, where he’s leading and breaking records.

Fujita has hit 32 straight fairways, a record since 1997! His tee shot on the second hole set this new mark.

Record-Breaking Performance

Fujita didn’t stop there; he kept hitting fairways on holes three, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten. This extended his streak to an amazing 38 before bad weather halted play.

With six holes left (all par fours and fives), Fujita could push his record to 44 fairways hit. Fans might think this is incredible!

Even though Fujita’s feat is impressive, Adam Long holds the PGA Tour record with 69 consecutive fairways hit in 2023. Long’s run included a perfect performance at the World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico.

But Fujita probably isn’t too worried about that right now. He’s three strokes ahead of Richard Bland and sits at 16-under-par. Winning this would be huge for him!

Fujita’s career started back in 1997 with his first pro win. His best year was 2012 when he won four tournaments on the Japan Golf Tour and was named MVP.

What do you think about Fujita’s chances?
