Tiger Woods Plays Golf With President Trump

Tiger Woods hit the links with former President Donald Trump just hours before the Super Bowl, as golf’s biggest deal ever inches closer to reality.

The golf legend was spotted with Trump and his son Charlie at Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach. Video footage posted on Instagram showed the trio on the practice range together before their round.

It’s not the first time Woods and Trump have teed it up together. They’ve known each other for years, with Trump even awarding Woods the Presidential Medal of Freedom back in 2019.

But this meetup comes at a crucial time. The PGA Tour is trying to hammer out a massive deal with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund – the deep pockets behind LIV Golf.

Just days ago, the Tour revealed that Trump himself is now involved in the negotiations. Commissioner Jay Monahan and player director Adam Scott met with the former president on February 4th – tragically, the same day Woods’ mother passed away.

Woods has been right in the middle of these talks since they started last June. He joined the PGA Tour’s Policy Board as a player director and has been working behind the scenes to bring the divided world of golf back together.

“He’s very engaged,” fellow board member Webb Simpson said after Woods sat in on meetings with PIF Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan and Tour officials.

The latest statement from the Tour sounds pretty optimistic:

“We asked the President to get involved for the good of the game, the good of the country, and for all the countries involved,” it read. “We are grateful that his leadership has brought us closer to a final deal.”

While there’s still no firm timeline for when this mega-deal might get done, seeing Woods personally connect with Trump suggests things could be moving in the right direction.

Meanwhile, Tiger isn’t just playing politics – he’s getting ready to compete. He’s set to tee it up this week at the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines, where he’s won eight times as a pro.
