The Scottish Open is here, and it’s a big deal.
Top golfers, including Rory McIlroy, are in Scotland to prepare for the Open Championship at Royal Troon next week. They want to get used to the conditions they’ll face there.
All 156 players start with an equal shot at winning $1.575 million from a total prize pool of $9 million. Last year, McIlroy won by just one stroke over Robert MacIntyre and took home the same amount .
Fans might think this prize money is huge compared to other tournaments. Even if you finish 65th, you still get $21,600! This event has one of the biggest prize pools outside of major championships on both the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.
