Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald have announced that LIV golfers might join their Ryder Cup teams.
During a media event in New York, they shared plans for the upcoming match at Bethpage Black.
Both captains agreed to choose players based on skill, not which golf tour they’re part of.
Bradley explained his strategy simply: “I’m going to take the 12 best players.” He mentioned it’s too early to predict exactly how things will unfold but emphasized quality over affiliation. In the last cup, Brooks Koepka was the only LIV golfer on the US team as a wildcard pick. For European players, it’s trickier because they must be DP World Tour members. Yet, Donald is open to selecting any player who meets eligibility rules.
Ryder Cup Selection Process:
The DP World Tour has clear rules: you need to be a member and born in Europe to qualify. Donald stated that if LIV players meet these conditions, they could be picked without issue. Fans might think this approach keeps the competition fair and exciting.
Jon Rahm is one of those top names likely to make Team Europe. He’s just one tournament away from meeting all requirements and has been in talks with Donald about joining. “I’ve spoken to Jon,” Donald said, adding that Rahm’s recent performances show he’s ready for action.
Tyrrell Hatton also remains a strong contender after his win at the Dunhill tournament. Communication with potential team members is crucial for Donald, ensuring everyone stays connected and informed.
Sergio Garcia missed out last time due to resigning from the DP World Tour but might return if he rejoins and follows all rules. Donald confirmed they’ve discussed this possibility.
