Four-time Major winner Rory McIlroy is reportedly thinking about leaving South Florida, his home for the past five years, to relocate to the Surrey stockbroker belt near London. According to The Telegraph’s Golf Correspondent James Corrigan, McIlroy plans to make the move once his three-year-old daughter Poppy is ready for secondary school. The 34-year-old golfer has already secured the 2023 Race to Dubai champion title after participating in nine tournaments. If he makes the move to England, he could potentially become more active in European-based golf events.

Despite the potential move, a source told The Telegraph that McIlroy might not necessarily need to reduce his activities on the PGA Tour. The source explained, “Erica and Rory love London and have decided this is where they see their future in a few years time. They will still have a base in Florida and, although there might be thoughts of scaling back on his schedule a bit by then, the private jet means he will still have the options of playing anywhere and everywhere.”

The 34-year-old’s membership at Queenwood private club in Surrey indicates that the area will likely be their future home. Additionally, the land for the family home has already been purchased, and the DP World Tour’s headquarters, Wentworth, and the BMW PGA Championship are nearby. If McIlroy goes through with the move, he will follow in the footsteps of fellow PGA Tour pro Justin Rose, who moved back to the UK after spending years in the US and the Bahamas.

This potential move contrasts with previous comments made by McIlroy about his life in the US. However, in 2019, there were reports that he was considering buying a house in the London area. It appears that McIlroy is more open to the idea of relocating back to the UK than he was in the past.

While McIlroy’s potential move to London may be a few years away, fans can look forward to seeing him in action at the DP World Tour Championship. And for those looking to take advantage of Black Friday golf deals, now is the time to grab some great offers.
