World No.2 Rory McIlroy is set to play in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship on the DP World Tour later this year.
He aims to win his sixth Race To Dubai crown, matching Seve Ballesteros, and hopes a victory in Abu Dhabi will help achieve that goal.
After narrowly beating Cameron Young and Adrian Meronk at the Dubai Desert Classic in January, McIlroy secured his spot for the Abu Dhabi event.
The Northern Irishman has participated in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship 12 times with four runner-up finishes, four third-place results, and one T5. He missed the cut only once back in 2013 when he shot two rounds of 75.
McIlroy’s Upcoming Challenges:
Determined to finally win, McIlroy will head to Yas Links from November 7-10 for the European Tour’s new playoff series opener before staying for the DP World Tour Championship finale—a prize he’s won twice before.

Speaking with DP World Tour media staff, McIlroy expressed his excitement about playing golf in the Middle East. “It’s no secret that I love playing golf in the Middle East,” he said. “I’d love to lift the trophy in Abu Dhabi and have a chance to top the Race to Dubai Rankings again.”
Fans might think it’s exciting news as they look forward to seeing him compete again.
The top-70 players from Europe’s Order of Merit will gather later this season in Abu Dhabi. The top-10 golfers not already exempt into 2025 will receive PGA Tour cards.
McIlroy’s status on the US circuit is secure due to his recent Wells Fargo Championship victory which guarantees him a tour card for three more seasons.
Currently taking a short break after a disappointing finish at Pinehurst No.2 during the US Open, McIlroy plans to return at Genesis Scottish Open before heading into Royal Troon Golf Club for The Open Championship in July.
