Rory McIlroy Drives Green Near Robert MacIntyre

Rory McIlroy drives the ball near Robert MacIntyre.

Rory McIlroy and Robert MacIntyre, usually buddies, had a bit of tension at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Rory hit an amazing drive on the 14th hole at Kingsbarns, but it rolled right up to where Robert was getting ready to putt.

Robert wasn’t thrilled about this; he stepped back from his putt and gave a serious look back towards Rory. Luckily, he still made his birdie putt. Imagine if he hadn’t!

Despite the awkward moment , both players managed birdies on that hole. Rory ended up with a score of 69 for the day, while Robert finished with a level-par round of 72 after making a double-bogey on the last hole.

The incident became quite the topic among fans who might think it’s just part of golf’s unpredictable nature. Rory’s powerful shot could have waited until Robert finished putting, but sometimes things don’t go as planned in sports.

TV commentators noticed Robert’s reaction immediately, saying, “I don’t think Bob is too impressed with that!” Even those watching from home could tell how annoyed he was by his body language.

Most golfers wouldn’t try such a bold move as driving onto a green when someone is putting. But Rory’s known for his strong drives! Do you think he should’ve held back?
