Relegated LIV Golfer Hits Ace at Team Championship

The LIV Golf Team Championship’s first round was full of surprises at Maridoe Golf Club.

Iron Heads GC, the lowest-ranked team, managed to beat Brooks Koepka’s Smash GC with a key shot from Scott Vincent.

Vincent, playing with Jinichiro Kozuma, made a hole-in-one at the par-3 14th hole despite being relegated individually last week in Chicago.

This ace turned the tide for Iron Heads GC. Although Graeme McDowell and Jason Kokrak were leading 4-up through 11 holes, Vincent’s shot sparked a comeback. Kozuma then holed the final putt on the first playoff hole to win their match and the overall game.

Kevin Na lost to Brooks Koepka 6&5, but Danny Lee defeated Talor Gooch 1-up, securing Iron Heads GC’s first-ever win in the Team Championship.

HyFlyers also caused an upset by defeating Torque GC. Cameron Tringale won against Sebastian Munoz 3&2, while Phil Mickelson and Brendan Steele beat Mito Pereira and Carlos Ortiz 2&1.

Fireballs GC triumphed over Majesticks GC with a clean 3-0 sweep. Stinger GC mirrored this result against Cleeks GC. The final game saw 4Aces GC beating RangeGoats GC 2-1 thanks to victories from Patrick Reed, Pat Perez, and Harold Varner III.
