US THE CLEAR WINNER IN THE MAJOR COUNT
The Presidents Cup is a team event, but the Major wins of each team reveal a lot about their strengths.
The US team has nine Major titles – two each from Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and Collin Morikawa, plus one each from Wyndham Clark, Brian Harman, and Keegan Bradley.
Meanwhile, the International Team only has three Majors – Jason Day (2015 PGA Championship), Adam Scott (2013 Masters), and Hideki Matsuyama (2021 Augusta National).
TAYLOR SURPRISE?

After the shock of Justin Thomas not making the US team settled down there was another surprise with Mike Weir’s choices for the International Team.
Nick Taylor’s amazing win at the RBC Canadian Open with a stunning 72-foot putt wasn’t enough to secure his spot.
Despite another victory at WM Phoenix Open this year and three Canadians being picked as wildcards by Weir – Taylor Pendrith, Mackenzie Hughes and Corey Conners – Taylor didn’t make it.
‘IT’S STILL SURREAL’
He said to Golf Channel:
“I’m just thankful to be able to play in one.
You just hope you’re going to get that phone call.
It’s still surreal.”
Royal Montreal Hosts Again:
This isn’t Royal Montreal’s first rodeo hosting the Presidents Cup. Back in ’07 when Jack Nicklaus led Team USA against Gary Player’s Internationals here – USA won big time with a score of 19.5 to14.5!
Pressure on Dominant US Team?
The Presidents Cup has been mostly dominated by Team USA since its inception in ’94 – they’ve lost only twice! But does this dominance bring extra pressure? According to Furyk:
“The idea is staying focused on task at hand… No great football team out there talks about people applying pressure on them… We’ll come out hungry & try applying pressure on internationals.”
Keegan’s Role Thoughts…
Bradley shared his thoughts about balancing player vs vice-captain roles last week:
“Being vice-captain helps if I become captain at Bethpage because playing changes your mentality.”“You’re more stressed out thinking about alternate shots or tough drives.”“But being inside ropes reminds how tough it is.”“If situation arises where I’m playing at Bethpage or Presidents Cup would help.”“I’ve gone back & forth; pros-cons both ways… Whatever happens gotta make best of it.”
