Friday morning at the Shriners Children’s Open was wild because of strong winds that delayed the event.
Joseph Bramlett had a rough time on the course, struggling with five putts from just 10 feet on the first hole. The day before, he shot an amazing seven-under 64, trailing Taylor Pendrith by three strokes. Pendrith had an incredible round of 61 and was even close to achieving a magical score of 59.
Bramlett started his Friday game from the back nine and managed a one-over-par 37. But things went downhill when he reached the front nine. His approach on the first hole landed him just ten feet from glory, but it took him five putts to finish! He missed left on his first try, then barely missed right, and finally ended up with a triple bogey seven instead of a birdie.
Weather Woes:
After that tough start, Bramlett did manage to birdie the next hole but ended up with two bogeys and another birdie for a total score of four-over 75—11 shots worse than Thursday’s performance. The weather was so bad that fans weren’t allowed in due to high winds causing delays in Las Vegas. Scores were much higher compared to the previous day; round one averaged at 68.779 while round two jumped to 71.630.
Fans might think this weather is crazy! It really shook things up for everyone playing out there.
Greyson Sigg shared his thoughts after shooting a two-under 69: “I’m happy to be in the clubhouse right now.” He joked about others teasing him for not playing earlier in those windy conditions and said he looked forward to getting some rest.
What do you think about playing golf in such windy weather?
