The PGA Tour is doubling down on YouTube golf in 2025, turning last year’s successful Creator Classic into a three-event series at some of golf’s most iconic venues.

It’s a pretty big deal for golf’s social media stars. They’ll get to show off their skills at places like TPC Sawgrass and East Lake Golf Club, playing on the same courses where the pros compete.

The original Creator Classic was a hit. It brought together 16 of golf’s biggest YouTubers for a nine-hole showdown during Tour Championship week. Luke Kwon, who used to play on the PGA Tour China, came out on top.

The numbers were impressive. The event racked up over 2.6 million views and reached nearly 60 million fans on social media in just four weeks.

Now they’re taking it to the next level.

The new Creator Series will feature three events in 2025:
– March 12 at THE PLAYERS Championship (TPC Sawgrass)
– May 7 at the Truist Championship (Philadelphia Cricket Club)
– August 20 at the TOUR Championship (East Lake)

Each event will have its own unique format and will be streamed on YouTube and other platforms. The production quality will be top-notch too – we’re talking shot tracers, detailed stats, and all the fancy graphics you’d see in a regular PGA Tour broadcast.

“We’re really excited about connecting with fans in new ways,” says Chris Wandell, the Tour’s SVP of Media. The first Creator Classic showed them just how powerful these events could be.

More than 20 popular golf creators will participate across the three events, with some familiar faces returning from last year’s competition.

It’s all part of the Tour’s bigger push into social media. They even started a Creator Council last November, bringing together some of golf’s biggest online personalities to help boost fan engagement.

Behind the scenes, the series is being run by Pro Shop Studios, co-founded by Chad Mumm – the same guy who produced Netflix’s “Full Swing” series.

Mumm’s pretty excited about it too. “This is exactly what we wanted to do – bring golf and culture together in fresh ways,” he says. “We’re showing how digital creators can bring new audiences to the game.”

The way things are going, 2025 could be the year YouTube golf really hits the mainstream.
