Patrick Reed’s Historic 59 on Asian Tour

Patrick Reed scores historic 59 on Asian Tour.

Patrick Reed’s 2024 has been quite eventful, playing in the LIV Golf League, DP World Tour, and Asian Tour.

He hasn’t won yet, but his impressive 11-under-par 59 at the Hong Kong Golf Club puts him in a great spot to win at the Link Hong Kong Open.

This remarkable score is only the second time it’s happened on the Asian Tour, following John Catlin’s record eight months ago. Interestingly, Reed was paired with Catlin that day.

“Yeah, you know, it was kind of one those days,” Reed shared about his attempt to end a four-year winless streak and secure his first Asian Tour title. He mentioned feeling tight in the morning and having a poor warm-up. His caddy reminded him that some of his best rounds came from such starts .

Beginning with five birdies in a row and another on the seventh hole, Reed shot an astonishing front nine of 28. Even after three pars starting the back nine, he birdied the 13th hole and needed four more birdies to achieve history.

Fans might think this could be Reed’s comeback moment they’ve been waiting for! Parring the 14th but then scoring three consecutive birdies on holes 15 through 17 set up a thrilling finish. With precision on his final approach shot, he sank the last putt to make history.

Reed now leads by three shots over Rashid Khan and Nitithorn Thippong as he aims for his first Asian Tour victory since winning at Farmers Insurance Open in 2021.

What do you think about Patrick’s chances?
