Patrick Reed dreams of stirring up trouble for the Europeans at the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.
He hasn’t been part of Team USA since their tough loss in Paris back in 2018, earning him the nickname Captain America due to his Ryder Cup performances. Reed missed out on the 2021 team because he got sick with bilateral pneumonia and ended up 11th in qualifying, just shy of making Steve Stricker’s team.
In 2023, Reed was absent again, this time because he joined LIV Golf. However, Keegan Bradley’s willingness to pick top players from any tour gives Reed hope for a comeback. “Obviously, that’s great news and everything like that,” Reed shared during an interview in Qatar. He appreciates Bradley’s openness to choosing the best players available. After all, it’s Bradley’s call.
Reed is eager to don the Team USA uniform once more and get under Europe’s skin . Fans might think it’s exciting to have such a spirited player back in action! He insists he’s against players receiving payment for participating in the Ryder Cup; he simply wants to return to what he does best—being a nuisance on the course.
Reed’s Determination:
“I’d love to be that pest that’s always bugging those Euros,” Reed stated passionately. His impressive record of 7-3-2 from three Ryder Cups, including an undefeated singles streak (3-0), surely keeps him on Bradley’s radar for future selections.
With Bradley now free to choose players from various tours, Reed hopes his performance will earn him another shot at representing his country. “I love hearing that he’s going to stand up and say he’ll pick who he thinks are the best Americans,” expressed Reed with enthusiasm.
Now it’s all about playing great golf and proving himself worthy of being picked again. What do you think? Should Patrick Reed make a comeback?
