There’s a lot to look forward to with upcoming golf events and their venues.
Golf returned to the Olympics in 2016 after being absent for 112 years.
Now, the courses are getting better and more famous.
Future Olympic Venues:
In Paris 2024, Le Golf National will host the golf events. This course also hosted the 2018 Ryder Cup. Moving on to Los Angeles, the 2028 Olympic Games will see golf played at the Riviera Country Club, known for hosting the Genesis Invitational every year.
The following Olympics in Brisbane, Australia, will feature the Royal Queensland Golf Club for its golf tournament from July 23 – August 8, 2032. This will be Australia’s third time hosting the Olympics after Sydney in 2000 and Melbourne in 1956.
Fans might think it’s exciting that such famous courses are being chosen for these big events.
Royal Queensland GC is conveniently located just ten minutes from Brisbane’s center. Its size and facilities make it perfect for grandstands, broadcasting, and hosting large crowds. The course has previously hosted three Australian Opens and last year’s Australian PGA Championship.
Australian golfer Geoff Ogilvy is leading efforts to make sure Royal Queensland GC is ready for the Olympics. He believes only minor tweaks are needed to ensure it provides a strategic challenge for top golfers worldwide. “There’s probably a few things I would tweak here and there but I think fundamentally it is really good,” said Ogilvy told NCA NewsWire. “Strategically it’s interesting. It’s not drivers everywhere. There are options off the tee.”
