TaylorMade is launching new P7CB and P770 irons.
After teasing us with prototype images, TaylorMade has officially unveiled these two new iron models. They were designed based on feedback from top tour players, offering different looks and performance benefits.
These irons have already made their mark on the PGA Tour. Rory McIlroy won the Wells Fargo Championship using a P7CB 4-iron, while Collin Morikawa used the same model to secure top-five finishes at The Masters and PGA Championship. Morikawa even added more P7CB irons ahead of the Scottish Open and Open Championship, finishing T-4 and T-16 respectively.
Fans might think these new releases are going to be game-changers.
What’s The Difference Between The Two Models?
The P7CB iron has a thinner topline and smaller blade compared to the P770. Made from 1025 soft carbon steel, it offers great feedback and feel, perfect for lower handicapped golfers. It also features a constant CG for consistent ball flight and spin rates.
In contrast, the P770 irons have a modified leading edge for better turf interaction. They include TaylorMade’s FLTD CG technology which lowers the center of gravity for easier launch and higher ball flight. A tungsten weight adds control in short irons while providing forgiveness in long irons. Both models share precision milling on the face for optimal spin.
What TaylorMade Says
Matt Bovee describes the P7CB as ideal for better players seeking precision, forgiveness, and consistency in a compact shape. He calls it “a combination of feel and forgiveness in compact shape beyond anything TaylorMade has created.”
For the P770, Bovee says it’s perfect for those needing some forgiveness without sacrificing feel or control: “This is our most forgiving, best feeling P770 to date.”
Both sets of irons will be available from September 6th at £179 per club.
