Netflix Full Swing Season 2 Viewership Drops

There’s great news for golf fans: Netflix’s docuseries Full Swing is coming back in 2025 for a third season.

But there’s some bad news too—viewership for the second season was way down compared to the first. Sports Business Journal says the latest season had only 4.8 million views and 28.5 million hours watched from January to June, which is much less than the 53.1 million hours from the first season during the same time last year.

One reason could be timing. The first season started on February 15, 2023, while the second began later on March 6 this year . This gave Season One a head start of nearly three weeks.

Season Two Highlights:

The second season covered life on the PGA Tour in 2023, but it wasn’t as dramatic as Season One. In 2022, LIV Golf shook up the golf world with big money and controversy, which made for exciting TV.

Even though there were still interesting stories in Season Two—like peace talks between PGA Tour and LIV Golf and it being a Ryder Cup year—the excitement had cooled off by then.

Fans might think that without all that drama, Season Two just wasn’t as gripping.

Whatever caused fewer viewers, producers hoped for another season long before they saw these numbers. Chad Mumm said right after Season Two premiered that he was waiting eagerly for confirmation: “We haven’t announced any official confirmation of that yet. We’re waiting with bated breath as I hope the rest of the world are.”

Comparatively, Full Swing did better than Netflix’s tennis docuseries Break Point, which only got 13 million hours viewed in its second season over early 2024.

Interestingly enough, last November’s Netflix Cup featuring F1 stars against golfers like Rickie Fowler and Justin Thomas won’t return either—it only got 700k views or about 1.7 million hours watched.

What do you think? Are you excited about Season Three?
