The final round of the Annika Driven by Gainbridge at Pelican was all about Nelly Korda and Charley Hull battling it out for victory.
Hull started with a slim lead, but her day began with ups and downs, including birdies and bogeys. Meanwhile, Korda had her own struggles, starting with three bogeys and only one birdie.
Despite these early challenges, both players stayed in contention alongside others like Wichanee Meechai and Lynn Grant. As the game progressed, Korda suddenly found her rhythm , scoring five consecutive birdies from the 11th to the 15th hole. Fans might have thought she was unstoppable!
Exciting Turns on the Course:
Korda’s impressive streak brought back memories of her strong start earlier this year when she won six out of eight tournaments. By moving to 14 under par, she left Hull trailing by two strokes after Hull managed just one birdie between holes 10 and 15.
Hull tried to catch up with a long birdie attempt on the 16th that barely missed. Even though Korda faced a challenging putt to save par soon after, she succeeded, keeping her lead intact as they approached the final holes.
In an unexpected twist ahead of them, Jin Hee Im made a late push for victory with a birdie on the 17th hole. But Korda’s form remained solid; she almost scored another birdie on the same hole but narrowly missed it.
As Im finished with a bogey, Korda found herself three shots ahead of Hull, Zhang, and Im while approaching her seventh win this season. There was a brief scare when her ball nearly rolled into water near the green—yet nothing stopped her from securing a comfortable victory by three shots.
Korda’s return from injury made this win even more special since she’d last played at Korger Queen City Championship in September. With only one event left—the CME Group Tour Championship—many believe she’ll finish strong in both titles race ! What do you think?
