Ally Ewing is a key player on the US team for the 2024 Solheim Cup.
Her professional journey includes three LPGA Tour wins since 2020. During this time, she has been married to Charlie Ewing, who also has a strong golf background.
Charlie, originally from Texas, played at Vanderbilt University and had five top-10 finishes in the 2013/14 season. However, his coaching career truly took off after he transitioned from playing.
In 2017, Charlie became an assistant coach for Mississippi State’s men’s golf program. He met Ally at the practice facility about a month later, and they have been together ever since .
In December 2019, Charlie proposed to Ally McDonald. She shared her excitement on Instagram: “Charlie made December 27th, 2019 an unforgettable day! We can’t wait to see what 2020 brings us. God is good and has blessed us exponentially! Wohoooo we’re engaged!!!!”
Even with Covid-19 looming large, they got married on May 30, 2020. It was a small ceremony due to the pandemic but filled with joy.
Wedding Bliss and Career Growth:
After their wedding, Ally posted pictures on Instagram saying: “We joined together as one! No words can describe how amazing our wedding day was! Even in the middle of a pandemic, it was a perfect day that will be remembered forever.”
As their relationship blossomed, so did Charlie’s career. Six months post-wedding, he became Head Women’s Golf Coach at Mississippi State. He helped develop top amateur Julia Lopez Ramirez among others.
Fans might think it’s inspiring how both careers are thriving alongside their personal lives.
In the 2023/24 season, Charlie led his team to win its first SEC Championship. This achievement solidified his status as an up-and-coming coach in golf.
