Golfers often show their feelings on the course, especially during tough times or bad days. But it’s rare to see how they react off the course.
In recent years, the DP World Tour introduced the ‘Green Room’. Here, players sit in front of a camera and answer questions from a robot. This setup aims to reveal a different side of them by encouraging honesty.
James Morrison once said golf is “absolutely impossible for the mere mortal” after shooting 76 in his final round. Now, Matt Wallace has given an equally raw interview at the Genesis Scottish Open.
Wallace’s Honest Interview:
“I didn’t realize it was this quick that you come in here,” Wallace said after missing the cut with a two-over-par round in Scotland. “Yeah… I’m pretty gutted. I’m trying to change my attitude towards the game by being more positive… I just lack self-confidence right now… Yeah, it’s hard.”
Throughout 2024, Wallace missed seven cuts on the PGA Tour. His best finish was tied for fourth at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson. After missing his last two cuts, he criticized his current form.
“I’m just not where I want to be in my game,” he admitted. “You can’t force it; you’ve got to roll with the punches … that’s what I’m doing now. I’m working hard every day because that’s how it is.”
Fans might think this news shows how even top players struggle sometimes.
“The game doesn’t owe you anything,” Wallace continued emotionally. “I don’t like getting emotional about it but everyone knows I am an emotional person.” He added that he’s always trying to improve and thanked his supporters: “We’ll be back; we’ll get there.”

After starting strong with a two-under first round on Thursday, Wallace struggled on Friday at The Renaissance Club and finished three shots behind the cutline.
Despite his struggles, Wallace isn’t giving up easily—he won his first PGA Tour title at the 2023 Corales Puntacana Championship after missing six cuts in seven starts before that week.
