Masters: Fred Ridley Details Augusta National Damage

Chairman Fred Ridley discusses damage at Augusta National.

The 2025 Masters tournament will proceed as planned, despite Hurricane Helene causing significant damage to Augusta National.

Hurricane Helene hit the southeastern United States hard, affecting Florida, North Carolina, and Georgia with power outages, floods, and tragic losses. Augusta National is focusing on helping the local community recover from this historic storm by contributing to a $5 million relief effort.

Social media shows images of destruction around Augusta, including fallen trees on Magnolia Lane. Still, Fred Ridley assures that The Masters will happen as scheduled. He mentioned at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in Japan that although there’s a lot of work ahead due to the damage, they are determined to get things back on track if it’s humanly possible.

Fans might be relieved to hear that their favorite golf event isn’t canceled but also concerned about how quickly recovery can happen. Pictures have shown Rae’s Creek overflowing; however, the full extent of damage at Augusta National remains unclear. Despite this uncertainty, Ridley emphasized that helping locals is more important right now than preparing for the tournament.

Community Support Efforts:

Augusta National has teamed up with the Community Foundation for the Central Savannah River Area to donate $5 million towards local relief efforts. This partnership aims to assist those affected by Hurricane Helene’s impact throughout Augusta.

Ridley shared his personal experience visiting Augusta after the storm and witnessing its devastating effects firsthand. He stressed that immediate help is crucial for residents facing hardships right now and expressed hope that their contribution would inspire others to join in supporting this vital mission.

In addition to financial donations, Augusta National is aiding local American Red Cross efforts by providing resources like a mobile food truck and setting up a recovery center at the HUB for Community Innovation where people can access food, water, showers, and counseling services.

What do you think about all these efforts? Do you believe they will make a big difference?
