Ludvig Aberg’s Horrendous Break at Scottish Open

Ludvig Aberg had a really unlucky moment during the first round of the Scottish Open.

He hit a great shot from 148 yards on the par-4 eighth hole, but it didn’t go as planned.

His ball landed on Collin Morikawa’s ball on the green and bounced into tall grass.

Unexpected Twist:

The crowd groaned loudly as Aberg’s ball went from being safely on the green to lost in thick grass. Fans online were shocked too. One person said, “Oh my god that is the cruelest break possible for Ludvig Aberg.” Another called it “one of the most statistically improbable shots you will ever see.”

What are the odds?! Ludvig Åberg’s approach lands directly on top of another pic.twitter.com/TTeDucWV4d

According to golf rules, if a ball hits another ball while off the green, it must be played from where it ends up. The other ball goes back to its original spot. So instead of putting for birdie, Aberg had to play his third shot from rough grass while Morikawa’s ball was placed back 11 feet from the hole.

Fans might think this news is both surprising and frustrating.

Aberg then faced a tough pitch shot from 27 yards but could only get it to the fringe, leading to a bogey. Meanwhile, Morikawa made his putt for his fourth birdie of his round.

This was Aberg’s second bogey in his round; he finished with one-under 34 in his first nine holes. He is still chasing his first win this year after six top-10 finishes including runners-up at Pebble Beach and The Masters.

Aberg turned pro last June and won his first PGA Tour event at RSM Classic in November.

What do you think about this unlucky moment?
