World No.5 Ludvig Aberg is set to have surgery on his left knee this week.
Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis shared that Aberg will undergo arthroscopic surgery to fix a torn meniscus and should be back hitting balls in 3-4 weeks. He might return to play later this year but with a limited schedule.
Aberg had to pull out of the Wells Fargo Championship in May due to this knee issue, but he played at the PGA Championship the next week with a brace for support. The 24-year-old won his first PGA Tour event last Fall and had an impressive rookie season, securing eight top-10 finishes in 19 starts, including three runner-up spots.
Season Highlights:
The highlight of Aberg’s season was finishing second behind Scottie Scheffler at The Masters in April. He made nearly $10 million and finished 16th in the FedEx Cup standings, missing only two cuts all year.
However, he won’t be able to defend his Omega European Masters title at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club because of his upcoming surgery. Fans might think it’s sad news but hope for a strong comeback.
He could be back for the RSM Classic defense in November as part of the FedEx Cup Fall series, which starts with the Procore Championship from September 12-15.
Jordan Spieth also recently had wrist surgery and is now recovering. Spieth posted on X: “I had a procedure on my left wrist last week… The operation went smoothly and I’m grateful for the exceptional medical team and support of Annie and my family.”
“Focused on rest and rehab, and I look forward to returning to golf healthy and prepared for 2025!”
