There was some impressive golfing at Castle Pines, with Ludvig Aberg smashing a 418-yard tee shot using just a 3-wood!
Despite the massive drive, Aberg ended up with a double bogey on that hole.
Playing at an elevation of 6,200 feet in Colorado during the BMW Championship, golfers are hitting some stunning distances.
Aberg is known for his powerful drives, ranking third in total driving on the PGA Tour this season and 23rd in driving distance. His longest drive this season was a whopping 437 yards at The Sentry in Kapalua, Hawaii. At Castle Pines, there are several holes where players can really let loose from elevated tee boxes.
One such hole is the 535-yard par-four 10th. Here, Aberg opted for his 3-wood instead of a driver. He made an excellent connection and sent the ball flying down the fairway for an incredible 418 yards! This was one of the longest drives of the day at the BMW Championship .
Fans might think it’s amazing how far he can hit even without using a driver. But golf isn’t just about long drives. After his monster hit on the 10th hole, things went downhill when he landed his next shot into water. This mistake led to a double-bogey six.
His troubles didn’t end there; it was actually his second double bogey in a row after also making six on the par-four ninth hole. Despite these setbacks and three more bogeys, Aberg managed to score seven birdies to finish level par.
He now trails Keegan Bradley by six shots as they head into Friday’s second round.
What do you think about Aberg’s performance?
