Longest & Shortest PGA Tour Golf Courses

The PGA Tour is expanding its reach in 2025, with pros set to tackle 47 different courses across the season. These range from legendary venues like Pebble Beach to modern championship layouts.

Torrey Pines South Course stands as the longest test, stretching to a massive 7,765 yards. That’s nearly 1,700 yards longer than what most amateur golfers play. To put it in perspective, that’s like adding almost 10 extra football fields to your typical local course.

But here’s the thing about length in golf – it doesn’t always mean harder. Just ask Hideki Matsuyama, who shot an incredible 35-under par at Kapalua’s Plantation Course. That’s the lowest score ever on the PGA Tour, and he did it on the fourth-longest course in the rotation at 7,596 yards.

At the other end of the spectrum sits Port Royal Golf Course in Bermuda, measuring just 6,828 yards. While that might sound short by pro standards, the ocean winds and tricky elevation changes make it plenty challenging. Rafael Campos still managed to go 19-under to win there last year.

Some interesting stats about the 2025 schedule:

• 43 of the 47 courses measure over 7,000 yards
• The average length is around 7,300 yards
• Major championship venues like Augusta National (7,555 yards) and Royal Portrush (7,344 yards) sit right in the middle of the pack

TPC River Highlands, the second-shortest course at 6,835 yards, has actually produced some of the lowest scores in Tour history. It’s the only venue that’s seen both a 59 (Cameron Young in 2024) and a 58 (Jim Furyk in 2016).

The Tour uses sophisticated “ShotLink” technology to measure exact playing distances during tournaments, accounting for tee and pin positions. This means the actual yardage players face can vary day to day, even on the same course.

What’s clear is that modern pro golf isn’t just about length. While courses keep getting longer, factors like design, weather, and setup still play huge roles in determining how tough a venue plays.
