On Saturday morning, news broke that Marc Leishman would not be playing at JCB Golf and Country Club.
Before the players teed off at LIV Golf UK, Cameron Smith revealed that Leishman had to withdraw due to appendicitis. Later, Leishman posted on social media from his hospital bed.
Leishman’s post showed him giving a thumbs up with the caption: "Disappointed to have to WD this week but health always comes first. I came to England with an appendix and will leave without it! Appendicitis is no joke."
Requiring surgery on Saturday morning, it’s currently unclear as to whether the 40-year-old will be back for the next LIV Golf event at Greenbrier on the 16th to 18th August, with appendicitis recovery taking anywhere from one week to four, depending on the type of surgery.
Ripper GC Adjustments:
Due to the team format within LIV Golf League, Ripper GC had no choice but to bring in Wade Ormsby. The 44-year-old Aussie stepped in for both Saturday and Sunday matches.

Fans might think it’s tough luck for Ripper GC losing such a key player right before important games.
Despite this setback, Captain Smith seemed inspired by the news. Starting strong on day two of LIV Golf UK, he birdied three out of his first four holes after teeing off at the second hole in shotgun start format. Even after a bogey at sixth hole, he bounced back with more birdies at seventh, ninth, 11th and 13th holes.
Smith was defending his title after winning at Centurion in 2023 and was putting up a great fight over the weekend.
What do you think about Leishman’s situation?
