Scott Vincent had a crazy day at the International Series Morocco on Thursday.
He found out his luggage was lost, so he rushed back to the airport to find it. Unfortunately, he came back empty-handed and almost missed his 12:30pm tee time, risking disqualification.
Vincent was allowed to start his round with a two-stroke penalty because of a wrong turn on the way back. He played using borrowed clubs from the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam pro shop.
Despite all this chaos, Vincent played an amazing round and ended just two strokes behind the leaders in this important event for getting into LIV Golf League. He made five birdies and even got an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole . This put pressure on Kazuma Kobori and John Catlin who were leading.
Unexpected Challenges:
Scott said after his round, “I had zero expectations today, but feel we definitely learned something that will help us get better in future.” Interestingly enough, Scott’s younger brother Kieran also faced similar issues as his bags were lost too.
Kieran didn’t go back to the airport; instead, he gathered clubs from friends in the tournament. Caleb Surratt gave him irons, Taichi Kho provided a driver, Ian Snyman lent him a wedge, and Jaco Ahlers supplied some golf balls.
Kieran didn’t have as strong a start as Scott; he bogeyed two of his first three holes but managed four birdies later on to finish one-under-par with a score of 72. He said he’d have been happy with that score if offered before starting.
Fans might think it’s incredible how both brothers handled such tricky situations so well!
Kieran shared how supportive everyone was: “Lucky enough, we have some really cool people out here on the Asian Tour – it is a friendly tour.” He emphasized adapting no matter what happens and enjoyed playing even without any of his own gear.
Late Friday news confirmed Scott received his clubs for round two while Kieran still used Ervin Chang’s clubs. After Morocco’s event ends Sunday, both brothers will head to Spain for LIV Golf Andalucia from July 12-14.
