In 2024, five players made it to this reserve list, each with different levels of experience. From fresh faces straight out of college to seasoned pros with multiple wins, there’s quite a mix.
While some reserves got their chance to shine and even celebrate team victories, others spent most of their time waiting for an opportunity that never came.
Meet the LIV Golf Reserves:
Wade Ormsby hails from South Australia and has played extensively on the DP World Tour. Despite earning over €4.4 million and joining LIV Golf in its first season in 2022, he was let go in 2023 after scoring just one point. He boasts four professional wins including two at the Hong Kong Open and another at the 2023 International Series Thailand on the Asian Tour. In 2024, Ormsby filled in three times during the LIV Golf League: once for Matt Wolff in Jeddah, twice for Louis Oosthuizen in Houston, and twice for Marc Leishman in England.
Ben Campbell from New Zealand has been active on the Asian Tour since 2018 and claimed victory at the Hong Kong Open in 2023. Previously ranked sixth globally as an amateur, Campbell stepped into his first LIV Golf event in Miami during 2024 when he replaced Ripper GC captain Cameron Smith. He also played one round in Houston and all three rounds at The Greenbrier when Sam Horsfield was injured.
The Journey Continues:
Laurie Canter took part as a full-time member of Cleeks GC during LIV Golf’s debut season but spent two subsequent seasons as a reserve player. In 2023 alone, Canter participated almost entirely throughout the season by making eleven appearances—ten being complete rounds—while substituting for Martin Kaymer and Sam Horsfield due to injuries. Despite narrowly missing out on securing a full-time position via playoff at LIV Golf Promotions Event for 2024, Canter returned as a reserve playing twice early on at Mayakoba and Las Vegas before heading back onto DP World Tour where he won European Open thanks partly due help covering fines by LIV Golf; now he’s eyeing PGA Tour card through DPWT.
