The 2024 golf season is wrapping up, but big changes might be coming soon for the LIV Golf League.
Greg Norman, who has been leading the league, is set to step down, and it’s uncertain what his next move will be. Meanwhile, there’s buzz about a new TV deal in the works for the upcoming season.
Sources from Sports Business Journal say that Fox Sports and LIV Golf are having important talks about showing the league’s games on their channels. For now, fans in the U.S. watch on the CW Network, but this might change as their contract isn’t getting renewed. In the UK, people can still catch it on YouTube without paying.
Potential Broadcast Shift:
Before signing with CW Network, there were rumors back in September 2022 about LIV Golf teaming up with Fox Sports. They were considering buying airtime on Fox Sports 1 to show their tournaments. But not many tuned in to watch Jon Rahm’s victory; only 89,000 viewers caught it on CW Network during Sunday’s final round.
Scott O’Neil from Merlin Entertainments is rumored to take over Norman’s role. He was spotted at The Showdown event playing alongside Jordan Bazant from Fox Sports. This Las Vegas event promoted by LIV Golf featured big names like Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler against Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.
Many fans think this could shake things up quite a bit!
Fox Sports hasn’t said anything yet about these discussions with LIV Golf. What do you think about all these changes?
