LIV Golf Considers Deal with DP World Tour

LIV Golf explores potential deal with DP World Tour.

The ongoing discussions between the PGA Tour and Saudi PIF seem to be moving at a snail’s pace. Meanwhile, there’s buzz about the DP World Tour and LIV Golf possibly finding their own way to work together.

Reports from Bloomberg suggest that LIV Golf might strike a separate deal with the DP World Tour, allowing both groups to collaborate. The DP World Tour hasn’t confirmed these reports but mentioned that main discussions are still happening.

“We remain in discussions with the PGA Tour, PGA Tour Enterprises, SSG and PIF relating to the ongoing overall picture for men’s global golf, but no agreements have been reached,” said a spokesperson for the DP World Tour.

Possible Collaboration Between Tours:

If any agreement happens, it could focus on scheduling LIV Golf events around DP World Tour tournaments so they don’t overlap. This would let players from LIV join more DP World events and maybe even get extra money from Saudi PIF to boost prizes.

Some players like Sergio Garcia have already paid fines and rejoined after leaving due to penalties when they joined LIV. Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton are also playing while appealing their cases. Fans might think it’s interesting how things are changing in golf right now.

Nine golfers from LIV hold memberships for 2025 with names like Rahm, Hatton, Garcia, Niemann, Meronk, Burmester, Reed, Pieters, and Herbert all included. They still face fines but can play in some events thanks to some flexibility by the DP World Tour.

For now, LIV covers these fines but may prefer using funds directly for prize boosts or creating more opportunities for its players in certain tournaments. If both tours agree on a schedule without conflicts, it could mean bigger stars showing up at DP events which would be great news!

LIV players could chase world ranking points and Majors access if this plan works out well for everyone involved. However, much depends on what happens between the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour since there seems less tension among European players compared to those in America.

What do you think about these potential changes?
