Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann are battling for the LIV Golf individual title in Chicago this week.
They will compete at Bolingbrook Golf Club, with only these two players left in the race for the title after impressive seasons.
Rahm has a slight lead with consistent top 10 finishes, while Niemann has two wins and nine top 10s.
The Championship Ring:
The winner not only gets an $18 million bonus but also a special ring filled with diamonds and a QR code. This QR code links to a video of their winning moment, so they can relive it anytime. Niemann thinks it’s “pretty cool,” though he joked his wife might be jealous of the ring’s 5.78 carats of white diamonds.
“Probably my wife won’t be happy knowing that my ring would have more,” said Niemann. “No, I feel it’s pretty special.”
Fans might think this prize is quite unique and interesting.
Rahm finds it hard to imagine what the diamond-filled reward looks like but doesn’t mind as long as he’s wearing it on Sunday. “I’m trying to picture what it looks like right now, and I can’t get that in my mind,” said Rahm. “It’s a lot. It’s definitely a lot.”
Both players know how high the stakes are this weekend. Rahm acknowledges the pressure but sees it as a privilege to compete for such a significant prize.
“I think you would be lying to yourself if you said there’s nothing extra,” said Rahm. “We’re all aware it’s the last event, and for the two of us, obviously we both want to win.”
