LIV Golf has appointed new General Managers for five of its teams.
These managers will handle everything from daily operations to marketing and player relations.
They come from various backgrounds, including baseball, golf, tennis, and esports, representing five different countries: Australia, Korea, South Africa, Sweden, and the US.
One notable hire is Jonas Martensson from Sweden. He was the CEO of Mojang Studios (the creators of Minecraft) and now leads Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks GC. “Golf has always been a significant part of my life,” he said. “The transition from gaming to golf will be a fun challenge.”
New Faces in LIV Golf:
Martin E. Kim joins Kevin Na’s Iron Heads GC after working with the LA Dodgers and Gen.G Esports. He aims to grow their fanbase in Asia. “I am thrilled to be a part of this new era of professional golf,” he shared.
Fans might think these changes are exciting for the sport.
Nick Adams takes charge at Cameron Smith’s Ripper GC. With experience at ESPN and Yahoo!, he plans to expand the game in Australia. “Given my Aussie heritage,” Adams said, “I am driven to grow the game within our part of the world.”
From South Africa, former ATP Tour Vice President Glover becomes GM for Stinger GC led by Louis Oosthuizen. He starts in October and is eager to build a sustainable brand with global reach while keeping ties to South Africa.
Jeff Koski took over Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII earlier this year. As Senior VP at SPORTFIVE, he’s already secured partnerships with Santander Bank and Maestro Dobel Tequila.
Katie O’Reilly from LIV Golf emphasized that these appointments are crucial for growing their team franchise model. She stated: “Attracting top industry talent not only brings business acumen but also shows our commitment to long-term growth.”
The final regular event of the season kicks off on September 13 at Bolingbrook Golf Club in Chicago.
