LIV Golf is shaking things up for 2025, bringing fresh faces and young talent to the controversial tour. Three new players have already signed on, with more likely to join before the season kicks off in February.
The tour’s looking different this year, with 13 teams of four players each battling it out for both individual glory and team titles.
What’s really interesting is how LIV’s focusing on young, up-and-coming talent rather than just chasing big names.
Chieh-po Lee earned his spot the hard way – winning December’s Promotions event in Saudi Arabia with an impressive 10-under-par performance. The 30-year-old from Taipei beat out some tough competition, including Branden Grace, by two strokes.
He’s no rookie, though. Lee’s been playing professionally since 2015 and just won the Asian Tour’s International Series Thailand in 2024.
The most exciting addition might be Yubin Jang, a 22-year-old Korean phenom who Iron Heads GC captain Kevin Na personally recruited.
Here’s what makes Jang special: He won gold at the 2023 Asian Games (which got him out of military service), dominated the Korean Tour in his first year as a pro, and grabbed Player of the Year honors with two wins and five second-place finishes. Not bad for a rookie year.
Then there’s Frederik Kjettrup from Denmark, who’s joining Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks GC team. He’s fresh out of Florida State University, where he won three college titles before turning pro in 2024. Since then, he’s already won three times on the PGA Tour Americas.
But LIV might not be done yet. There are still spots open on several teams, including Legion XIII, Fireballs, Stinger, and RangeGoats. That means we could see up to four more new faces before the season starts in Riyadh.
The tour’s strategy is pretty clear: build for the future with young talent while keeping the established stars who’ve already made the jump. It’ll be interesting to see who else they add to the mix before February rolls around.
