Lexi Thompson Announces New Year Engagement

Golf star Lexi Thompson is starting an exciting new chapter in her life, saying “yes” to boyfriend Max Provost during a romantic winter getaway to Whistler, Canada.

The 29-year-old shared the happy news on Instagram, posting “I said YES to my forever and always” along with photos of the snowy proposal.

It’s perfect timing for Thompson, who just stepped back from full-time professional golf in November after an incredible 14-year career on the LPGA Tour.

The timing isn’t a coincidence. When announcing her retirement, Thompson made it clear where her priorities were heading: “I’ll be 30 next year, so settle down, get married, have a family. That’s my No.1 priority.”

She’s certainly earned the right to focus on her personal life. Thompson racked up 11 LPGA Tour wins during her career, including a Major victory at the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship.

Her new fiancé has managed to stay mostly out of the spotlight. Provost, a Florida-based sales professional who studied at Florida State University, was still being called “Lexi’s mystery man” by the media when he accompanied her to a Solheim Cup gala last year.

That’s pretty typical for Thompson, who’s always kept her private life private. Even now, no one’s quite sure how long the couple has been dating.

While she’s stepping back from full-time competition, Thompson isn’t hanging up her clubs completely. She plans to play in select LPGA Tour events in 2025, with the Chevron Championship likely at the top of her list.

“Even though it’s a different venue and sponsor now, it’s still a memory that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life getting my first Major win at that event,” Thompson said. “It’s very special to me.”

But for now, it looks like wedding planning might be taking priority over practice rounds.
