Scottie Scheffler, the top-ranked golfer globally, is auctioning his car for charity.
Jim Nantz, a famous sports commentator, has kicked off the bidding with $50,000 for Scheffler’s 2012 GMC Yukon XL. The funds will support Triumph Over Kid Cancer.
During a gala in Houston last November, Nantz expressed his enthusiasm by saying he’d gladly keep Scottie’s car in his garage. Although this bid is impressive, more offers are welcome until December 28th when Heritage Auctions wraps up the sale.
Car Auction Details:
The vehicle isn’t just any car; it’s a piece of Scheffler’s journey and holds sentimental value. Originally bought by his dad in 2012 and later passed down to him after graduation, it’s not flashy but full of memories. By 2022, it had clocked 190,000 miles as Scheffler drove it to junior tournaments and even to Augusta National where he won the Masters.
Fans might think it’s cool how humble Scheffler is despite being so successful. Even though he’s now third on the all-time PGA Tour money list with over $71 million earned from victories like nine PGA Tour wins this year alone and defending his Hero World Challenge title, he kept driving this old car until recently getting a new one after his son Bennett was born.
The SUV also features two autographs from Scheffler: one on the dashboard with “First Owned Vehicle” written beside it and another on the visor. This auction benefits a cause dear to him since Triumph Over Kid Cancer was started by a childhood friend who fought osteosarcoma. Besides organizing events like James A. Ragan Triumph Scramble, Scottie’s “Scottie’s Heroes” initiative gives golf clubs to young cancer patients.
