Frankie Capan III has big dreams for the 2025 golf season.
At just 24, he’s already made waves by shooting a record-breaking 58 at the Veritex Bank Championship in Texas, surpassing Scottie Scheffler’s previous course record. This Minnesota native continued to impress by qualifying for the US Open two years in a row, finishing tied for 41st this time around. Despite his early successes, he only recently secured his PGA Tour card through the Korn Ferry Tour.
Golf in America is tough, and many players are ready to win as soon as they hit the PGA Tour. Capan is known for his putting skills and isn’t making any wild promises but aims high regardless. On a podcast called College Golf Talk with Brentley Romine, he shared that while he doesn’t have precise goals, playing at Bethpage Black during next year’s Ryder Cup would be amazing.
Chasing Dreams:
To join Keegan Bradley’s team, Capan knows he needs to start strong next year. “I told my caddie that’s our goal,” he said. “We need a good start and get into some big events.” His confidence comes from three top-five finishes in his last five outings of the season, including winning at Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship.
Fans might wonder if this young golfer can keep up with such ambitious plans. Can he really make it happen?
Capan finished third on the points list for the season and will likely debut as a PGA Tour member at the Sony Open in January. With the Ryder Cup set for September at Bethpage Black in New York, time is ticking for him to shine.
His goal? “It’s good enough,” Capan said with a grin. What do you think about his chances?
