Kevin Kisner is reportedly stepping into the role of NBC Sports’ lead golf analyst.
According to sources like Josh Carpenter from Sports Business Journal and the PGA Tour, Kevin Kisner is set to take on this new challenge in 2025. He’ll be joining Dan Hicks in the broadcast booth. Kisner has already tried his hand at this job after Paul Azinger left unexpectedly over a year ago. He got some practice during The Sentry in January, then again at the WM Phoenix Open, and also took part in The Players Championship in March.
Kisner was among several people who had a chance to show their skills after Azinger’s departure in November 2023. Others included Curt Byrum, Paul McGinley, Geoff Ogilvy, and Brandel Chamblee. Despite these new duties , Kisner isn’t leaving his golfing career behind. Reports say he’ll still play on the PGA Tour but with fewer appearances. Plus, he’s signed up for TGL starting in January.
Kevin’s Busy Schedule:
Back in April, Kisner had said he wasn’t ready for a full-time broadcasting gig because of his playing schedule. On Golf Digest’s The Loop podcast, he shared how balancing both roles was tough: “I started with Maui since I was going there anyway for Sony Open,” he explained. “They liked my work enough to ask me back for Phoenix and then The Players.” Fans might think it’s cool that he’s juggling both playing and broadcasting!
He jokingly mentioned that if he kept doing broadcasts every off week without going home, his wife would not be happy! Even though it’s more work than expected, Kisner plans to keep playing through the season before deciding what comes next.
NBC Sports seems to have big plans for its coverage strategy too. They want two announcers and two analysts switching between odd and even holes during major events on weekends. Meanwhile, news came out recently about Azinger possibly returning as a broadcaster for PGA Tour Champions on Golf Channel starting 2025.
What do you think about Kevin’s new role?
