@NorthtownAuto | @keoncoleman6— Buffalo Bills (@BuffaloBills)
Keon Coleman’s got his eyes set on Buffalo. Yeah, he was the first pick for the Bills in the second round at the NFL Draft in Detroit last week. But, before he dives deep into Sean McDermott’s playbook or dashes across Highmark Stadium, he’s probably gonna hit the golf course. Just to chill and maybe work on that swing.
At 20, Coleman’s more than just an athletic wide receiver. In a chat before the draft, he told Joe Brady, the Bills’ Offensive Coordinator, and some of the team staff about his off-field passions. Things like kicking back at home, bowling, and yeah, golfing.
He’s got a sense of humor, that one. Made it clear that while he’s all for competition, catching passes is where he shines. When Brady asked about his hobbies, Coleman was like, “Chill at the house, golf, bowl a little bit.” And on golf? “I ain’t no… I’m Tiger Wish-He-Could, I’m not Tiger Woods.” Got to love that honesty.
“I wish I could putt and do all that,” he continued. Those pros making it look easy, shooting five-under? Not him. He joked it might take him five tries just to sink a putt. But hey, he’s out there to have fun.
Coleman’s no stranger to golf, having likely played for a while. He gets the game’s frustrations but sees it as “controlled chaos.” It’s about staying calm, not getting mad or hurting yourself trying to whack the ball. Just swing and enjoy, he says.
He’s not alone in the NFL-golf club. Big names like Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Aaron Rodgers also hit the links. Mahomes even has a par-3 hole at his place in Kansas City. Rodgers, post-ACL injury, scored an Ace in his first round back. And Tony Romo? The former Cowboys QB and CBS commentator sometimes plays in PGA Tour events.
If Coleman’s career takes off like those legends, maybe ‘Tiger Wish-He-Could’ will end up playing with Tiger Woods himself one day. Imagine that.
