Keegan Bradley Aims for US Ryder Cup Playing Captain

Keegan Bradley expresses desire to be US Ryder Cup playing captain.

Keegan Bradley wants to be a playing captain at the Ryder Cup next year.

The 38-year-old was named the new leader for Team USA at Bethpage Black in a press conference on Tuesday. He feels he’s still at his best and hopes to earn his spot on the team through points, not by picking himself.

Bradley said, “I want to play on the team. I feel as though I’m still in the prime of my career and can make this team.” He added that he wouldn’t choose himself unless the team insisted, but even then, he doubts it would happen.

Bradley’s Unexpected Role:

Many were surprised when Bradley got picked as captain because of his age and limited experience. The US Ryder Cup committee’s first choice was Tiger Woods, who declined due to other commitments.

Fans might think it’s interesting that Bradley got this chance despite not being a vice-captain before. Zach Johnson broke the news to him two weeks ago, which left Bradley shocked but honored.

“Zach Johnson is such an amazing person,” Bradley shared. “He called me about being captain in 2025, and I respect him so much.”

Despite lacking experience compared to past captains, Bradley believes he brings something fresh. He plans to have younger vice-captains who are still active players.

“I’ll be out there with them,” he explained. “Playing in tournaments and Majors alongside these guys.”

Bradley also mentioned including LIV Golf players if they are among the best: “I’m going to have the 12 best players on the team. I don’t care where they play.”

Ultimately, Bradley is confident about leading Team USA to victory next year at Bethpage Black.

“I’m so honored,” he said simply. “I’m going there to win back the Ryder Cup for America.”

What do you think? Will Keegan lead us to victory?
