Keegan Bradley 2025 US Ryder Cup Captain

Keegan Bradley is the new USA Ryder Cup captain.

The 38-year-old, who won the PGA Championship in 2011, has played in two Ryder Cups: Medinah in 2012 and Gleneagles in 2014. “I am incredibly honored to accept this opportunity to Captain the United States Team at the 2025 Ryder Cup,” said Bradley. He thanked the PGA of America Ryder Cup Committee for their trust and expressed his excitement about leading the team at Bethpage Black.

Bradley emphasized his passion for golf’s greatest team event and noted how special it will be given its rich history and enthusiastic spectators. “My passion and appreciation for golf’s greatest team event have never been stronger,” he said. “The Ryder Cup is unlike any other competition in our sport, and this edition will undoubtedly be particularly special given the rich history and enthusiastic spectators at this iconic course.”

Fans might feel mixed emotions about this news, considering Bradley’s age and lack of vice-captain experience. Despite these factors, he remains a popular figure due to his six PGA Tour wins and ranking as world number 19. His roots in the northeast also make him a favorite among New York fans.

Bradley’s Surprising Appointment

John Lindert, President of PGA of America, shared his pride in naming Bradley as captain for 2025. He praised Bradley’s past experiences, strong relationships, and unwavering passion for guiding the U.S. Team over the next year and a half. Lindert stated confidently that with Keegan leading them, they will compete with determination at Bethpage.

Interestingly enough, Tiger Woods was initially expected to take on this role but declined due to commitments with PGA Tour board duties amid negotiations with Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund as well as wanting more time to compete himself.

Bradley will lead Team USA before an energetic New York crowd at Bethpage Black where they’ll aim to reclaim victory after losing last time out by a score of 16.5-11.5 against Europe.

Despite recent losses abroad (2021 & 2016), home advantage has proven crucial; each of last five matches saw home teams triumphing!
