Justin Rose is set to play in the Hong Kong Open this November.
He last won the tournament in 2015 and will return to Fanling Golf Club, where he achieved that victory. Tom Kim, another PGA Tour player with two Asian Tour wins, will also participate.
“Hong Kong holds a special place in my heart,” Rose said. “When I won at Fanling, I was playing some of the best golf of my life.” He added that he’s had great form this year and looks forward to returning.
Event Details:
The Hong Kong Open has been held at Fanling Golf Club since 1959. Rose reminisced about his win in 2015 when he beat Lucas Bjerregaard by one stroke. “I cannot believe seven years have passed since I was last here,” he said, noting how much he loves the city and its classic golf course.
Players from the DP World Tour need permission to play in Asian Tour events if they clash with other tournaments. Rose has asked for a release because the Hong Kong Open happens during the Australian PGA Championship week. No decision has been made yet.
Fans might think it’s exciting to see such top players competing again.
Defending champion Ben Campbell and local favorite Taichi Kho are also confirmed for the event. The tournament is part of the LIV Golf-backed International Series, featuring ten $2 million purse tournaments that offer winners a spot in the LIV Golf League.
Currently leading the rankings is John Catlin, who made history by shooting a 59 at the International Series Macau earlier this year and finished second at another event in Morocco.
The Hong Kong Open will take place from November 21st-24th. This will be Fanling’s second major event this year after hosting March’s inaugural LIV Golf Hong Kong tournament, where Abraham Ancer won in a playoff.
LIV Golf Hong Kong is scheduled to return again in March 2025 as part of four announced events for that year’s LIV Golf schedule.
