Playing in the Olympic golf tournament is a dream come true for Jon Rahm.
Rahm feels immense pride competing for an Olympic gold medal next week in Paris. The event will be held at Le Golf National, a place that holds special memories for him.
Back in 2018, Rahm made his Ryder Cup debut there and scored his first point by defeating Tiger Woods. That moment remains one of his proudest achievements in golf .
Rahm’s Excitement and Memories
Rahm is thrilled to be among the 60 players vying for the third Olympic golf title since its return to the Games in 2016. “It’s basically a dream come true,” he said about playing in the Olympics. He added that winning a gold medal is one of the most impressive feats in sports, something only a few people can claim.
Le Golf National has always been special to Rahm because it was where he defeated Woods during the Ryder Cup. If happy memories boost performance, fans might think this gives him an edge over others.
In Sunday’s singles match back then, Rahm had no points but managed to defeat Woods, helping Tomas Bjorn’s team secure victory over Team USA. This ranks high on Rahm’s list of best moments on the course.
“It ranks very high,” said Rahm about that win against Woods. Despite not having his best week and losing earlier matches with Rosey and Poulter carrying him, winning against Tiger was unique and unforgettable.
Representing Europe at the Ryder Cup was incredible for Rahm, but winning an Olympic medal for Spain would be another level of achievement altogether. “I’ve represented Spain many times as both amateur and pro,” he said. Doing it again on such a grand stage feels extra special.

“I’ve been fortunate to succeed while representing Spain,” Rahm continued. “If David [Puig] and I can win medals, it would be absolutely incredible.” Few athletes from Spain have achieved this honor; doing so would indeed be very special.
