From Scotland’s west coast to Uttoxeter, LIV Golf players are moving south this week in search of better weather.
John Catlin is one of those making the 300-mile journey to JCB Golf & Country Club after tying for 16th at The Open. Only Jon Rahm finished higher among his LIV peers.
Catlin, a three-time DP World Tour winner and current Asian Tour leader, is still buzzing from his performance.
“It’s just such an amazing event,” he said about finishing two over par. “Walking up the last hole, even in that greenside bunker, I couldn’t help but smile. It’s so unique to the Open.”
Catlin has won three DP World Tour titles in just seven-and-a-half months and is now filling in for Charles Howell III on Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers team. After a strong week at The Open, he revealed his main goals: winning the Asian Tour Order of Merit and securing a LIV spot for 2025.
Goals and Achievements:
“To win that would be truly special,” said Catlin about the Order of Merit. He’s had an incredible season so far. In March, he shot a historic 59 at the International Series Macau and beat David Puig in a playoff .
Fans might think Catlin’s recent success isn’t surprising given his form this year.
Besides winning the Irish Open, he’s also claimed titles at the Andalucia Masters and Austrian Open. Plus, he has six Asian Tour wins under his belt.
LIV Golf returns to England for its third consecutive year but will play at JCB Golf & Country Club instead of Centurion Club this time around.
What do you think about Catlin’s chances?
