Jeffrey Guan, an Australian golfer, is determined to chase his dreams despite losing sight in one eye due to a freak accident.
Last month, during the NSW Open qualifier, Guan was hit by a stray tee shot just after making his PGA Tour debut at the Procore Championship. He was rushed from Canberra to Sydney for surgeries and spent two weeks in intensive care.
Guan shared that he suffered multiple fractures around his eye socket and completely lost vision in his left eye. This incident has deeply affected him and his family emotionally and mentally, but he remains committed to returning to golf at an elite level.

Fans might think it’s amazing how strong Guan is staying through all this. Despite feeling “utterly distraught,” he plans to overcome this challenge with perseverance. “I’ve always been persistent since I was a kid,” he said. These past four weeks have been incredibly tough, but he feels mentally stronger now.
Guan has only been playing professionally for a year but already won the Australian junior amateur championship twice, following famous Aussies like Adam Scott and Jason Day. At the Procore Championship in California, he missed the cut with rounds of 69 and 75 before heading back home for the NSW Open qualifier where tragedy struck.
The accident happened on the third hole at Catalina Club when he turned towards his cart. Suddenly hit by pain and ringing in his head, everything went blurry as he collapsed. He woke up in an ambulance on his way to the hospital.
Even though good news has been scarce since then, Guan is optimistic about returning stronger than ever. He expressed gratitude for everyone who supported him during this difficult time: “I can’t thank everyone enough who reached out.” Recovery will take six months to a year.
What do you think? Can Jeffrey make it back?
