Jason Day Explains Why He Didn’t Join LIV Golf

For a while now, big names like Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka have joined LIV Golf, but Jason Day has chosen a different path. Despite rumors, he stayed with the PGA Tour and recently explained why.

In an interview with Code Sports Australia, Day shared that he never turned down an offer from LIV Golf because there was no official one to begin with. He mentioned it was more about exploring options rather than making any decisions.

Day said to his agent that he was content where he was but open to hearing possibilities. LIV Golf liked him but had concerns over his injuries —a history of back pain and other issues made them hesitant. “I don’t blame them,” Day remarked.

Jason Day’s Journey:

Fans might think it’s surprising how many players are switching tours these days. Unlike some who moved to LIV for a fresh start after injuries, Day found success by staying put. He won at the 2023 Byron Nelson, marking his first victory in five years.

Reflecting on his choice, Day expressed gratitude for sticking with the PGA Tour. “I’m so thankful and so happy that I stayed on the PGA Tour,” he said. “I just feel that the Tour was a perfect spot for me.”

Recently, he’s been taking a break after participating in the Presidents Cup. Now he’s gearing up for the Australian PGA Championship starting November 21st, where he’ll compete against players like Cameron Smith and Adam Scott.

What do you think about Jason’s decision?
