The Italian Open is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the DP World Tour season.
This year, it’s being held at Adriatic Golf Club for the first time, moving from Marco Simone where it was hosted for the last three years. Players are competing for a hefty $3.25 million prize pool, making it the largest non-Rolex Series purse this season.
Adrian Meronk won last year’s event but won’t be defending his title as he joined LIV Golf earlier this year. He took home $552,500 from an identical purse to this year’s tournament. Whoever wins on Sunday will claim that same amount, while second place gets $357,500 .
With only one more tournament left in the European Swing phase—the BMW International Open—players are also eyeing a bonus of $200,000 and entry into several key events like the Genesis Scottish Open. Nacho Elvira is currently leading ahead of Laurie Canter and Guido Migliozzi.
Fans might think it’s exciting to see who will grab those two spots available for The Open at Royal Troon!
