Is There A Cut At The Sentry PGA Tour Event

The PGA Tour is kicking off 2025 in style, heading to paradise as The Sentry takes center stage on Maui’s stunning Kapalua course.

This isn’t just another tournament – it’s one of eight special “Signature Events” that are changing how pro golf looks in 2025. We’re talking big money here: a massive $20 million prize pool, with the winner also grabbing 700 FedEx Cup points.

Here’s what makes it interesting: every player who starts gets to finish. There’s no cut after two rounds, which means all 59 players get to enjoy the full four days in paradise.

The field’s a bit different this year too. It used to be just for last year’s tournament winners, but now they’ve opened it up to include anyone in the top 50 of the FedEx Cup standings.

After Maui, the Tour’s got seven more of these Signature Events lined up. They’ll all have at least 72 players, pulling in extras from something called the Aon Next 10 if they need to fill spots.

Want to mark your calendar? Here’s what’s coming up:
– Pebble Beach Pro-Am
– Genesis Invitational
– Arnold Palmer Invitational
– RBC Heritage
– Truist Championship
– The Memorial Tournament
– Travelers Championship

Now here’s where it gets interesting – only three of these tournaments will actually cut players halfway through. Those are the big ones with legendary names attached: Tiger’s Genesis Invitational, the Arnold Palmer, and Jack’s Memorial Tournament.

For those three events, they’ll trim the field to the top 50 players (plus ties) after two rounds. Anyone within 10 shots of the lead stays too. And there’s extra motivation – these tournaments are offering $4 million to their winners.

The no-cut format for the other events has gotten people talking. Some pros love it, others hate it – but that’s golf for you.

It’s a new era for the PGA Tour, and we’re about to see how it all plays out starting in beautiful Hawaii.
